This policy explains what information Perennial Plants collects when you visit the site, how we use it and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can.

Perennial Plants (www.perennialplants.com) is published by FourthMedia, Inc., based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In this policy, “we” and “us” refer to FourthMedia, Inc. You can reach us about privacy through our contact page.
Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: when you contact us, through website analytics, and through the technical logs every website keeps.
When You Contact Us
If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. We use this only to read and reply to your message. It is delivered to us by email and is not added to any mailing list.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are read most, how people arrive here and what devices they use. Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, the time spent on them, your approximate location based on your network, your browser and device type, and the page that referred you. It uses cookies to tell whether you have visited before. We use this information in aggregate to improve the site, not to identify individual visitors.
Server Logs
Like all websites, our web server automatically records basic technical information about each request, including your IP address, browser type and the page requested. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and preventing abuse, and are kept only for a limited time.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Perennial Plants itself does not set advertising cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies that distinguish visitors and sessions. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking cookies does not stop you from using the site.
Third-Party Services
Some features of the site rely on services run by other companies, which receive basic technical information such as your IP address when your browser connects to them.
Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, processes the analytics information described above. Google Fonts, also provided by Google, supplies the typeface used on the site, so your browser requests font files from Google’s servers. Our hosting provider stores the site and processes server logs on our behalf. Each of these companies handles information under its own privacy policy.
We do not currently display advertising on Perennial Plants. If we add advertising in the future, we will update this policy before it goes live to explain how advertising partners use information and how to manage your choices.
How We Use and Share Information
We use the information we collect to reply to messages, understand and improve the site, and keep it secure. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers described above or where the law requires it.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep contact messages for as long as needed to reply and follow up, then delete them. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics data retention settings. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.
Where Information Is Processed
We are based in Canada, and our service providers may process information in Canada, the United States or other countries. These countries may have data protection laws different from those where you live.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it or to object to how we use it. These rights are provided by laws such as Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, the European Union and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation, and privacy laws in several U.S. states. To make a request, contact us through our contact page. We will respond within the time required by the law that applies to you.
Children’s Privacy
Perennial Plants is a general audience website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Our articles link to sources such as universities and government agencies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, so we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

We may update this policy as the site changes or as laws change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
